Don’t let anything hold you back!
Twenty-six years ago, Wilma started at Royal Van der Leun with a job application. Handwritten with pen and paper, as was still quite common at the time. The fact that she is still working here and still enjoys her profession says it all.
Wilma builds distribution cabinets and security cabinets for a wide range of projects, including heavy-duty ones up to 1600 amperes. Bending copper is part of the job too. It takes some getting used to at first, but once you get the hang of it, it mainly brings a lot of satisfaction.
That’s the beauty of craftsmanship: it doesn’t require much fuss. Your job satisfaction goes hand in hand with a neatly assembled cabinet. By now, Wilma also passes on her knowledge to apprentice technicians.
“For women who are unsure about a career in this field, I would say: don’t let anything hold you back. If you enjoy working with your hands and take pride in what you create, you belong here just as much.”
