Innovations

Since its foundation 100 years ago, Royal Van der Leun has focused on innovation in the maritime sector. Our clients work on the most challenging projects where everything revolves around efficiency and innovation. We have the knowledge to make systems cleaner and more sustainable.

Enhanced control and performance with the Energy Management System (EMS)

The Van der Leun EMS is a system that can be deployed on every vessel and with new as well as existing installations. Installing the EMS allows you to achieve optimum efficiency with your drive system and to make a significant contribution to a cleaner environment and a better world.

The system is used to monitor, control and optimise the performance of installed energy sources such as batteries and generators. It also continuously monitors and controls power sources based on load and battery charge status.

Do you work on standby duty or travel to a project location (abroad)? You will receive additional compensation for this.

When you start a (new) job in the Metal and Engineering sector, you automatically start building a pension from the age of 18 with the Metal and Engineering Pension Fund (PMT). You do this together with Royal Van der Leun. You will accrue a pension under an average earnings scheme, including old-age, partner, and orphan pensions, up to your state pension age.

You will receive a travel allowance of €0.23 per kilometer for commuting. Travel to project locations is reimbursed at €0.32 per kilometer.

We provide charging stations for electric vehicles and have a bike shed. Working from home is also an option: you receive a €2.40 allowance per home-working day. If your role allows it, you can work from home up to two days per week for a full-time workweek.

At Royal Van der Leun, we believe it is important for you to take time for yourself. That’s why you are entitled to 25 vacation days per year: 20 statutory and 5 extra days. Additionally, you receive 13 ADV (reduction of working hours) days, some of which are allocated collectively.

At Royal Van der Leun, we care about our employees being well insured. That’s why we offer a group health insurance plan with attractive benefits. This includes a discount on your premium and additional coverage for physiotherapy or preventive care.

You can choose whether to take part in this plan and select the coverage that best suits your needs. Together, we ensure a healthy and worry-free future!

Our Employee Association organizes fun activities several times a year that you can join as a member, sometimes for a small personal contribution. Think of a cozy BBQ, a sporty day of go-karting or bowling, an adventurous Solex ride, or even a ski trip to Winterberg. Our annual Sinterklaas celebration for members with children is a beloved tradition.

Whether you prefer action, relaxation, or socializing, there’s always an activity for you!

The membership fee is €5 net per month and is deducted from your salary. To wrap up the workweek, we host a Friday afternoon drink in our very own pub, ‘Café de Leuning,’ where colleagues gather to relax and catch up. With a drink and a great atmosphere, we toast to the week and kick off the weekend together!

Investing in the future? At Royal Van der Leun, we believe that every child deserves a good education, regardless of their background. That’s why we established the Van der Leun Study Fund!

This foundation supports the education and personal development of employees’ children. Additionally, we donate to a charitable cause each year, focusing on youth education. In this way, we invest in the future of children.

When you join Royal Van der Leun, we register you for WIA employee insurance, as agreed in the collective labor agreement (CAO).

This provides supplemental income if you become incapacitated for work and enter the WIA (Work and Income according to Labor Capacity) scheme.
