Our Canadian office is in Langford BC, right at the no.1 Highway into Victoria and up to Vancouver Island. At our strategically chosen location we hold our 1800sq/ft of office and warehouse. We hold critical items on stock and produce cabinets from small to large for the local and international market.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Marine Electrical Service & Commissioning Technician to join and support our growing operations in Canada. This role will play a key part in strengthening our position in the rapidly expanding and technologically advanced local marine industry. As a member of our team, you are hands-on, flexible, solution-oriented, and a driving force within the company. You will travel across British Columbia to shipyards and client locations, with occasional opportunities for international assignments. We provide both in-house and external training to ensure you have the skills and knowledge needed to excel in this position and further develop your career within our company.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance & repairs on electrical marine installations and equipment with the understanding of marine electrical system designs.
• Install, configure, and commission electrical systems, including:
   o Converters & drives
   o PLC & Automation Systems
   o Power Distribution
   o “Traditional” Control Systems
• Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers during new installations, retrofits, and repairs.
• Document service activities, commissioning results, and provide feedback to engineering teams.
• Collaborate with international colleagues and specialists from Royal Van der Leun when required.
• Travel throughout British Columbia and possible Internationally to support clients.
• Part of a 24/7 call out pool for emergency response to support our clients.

Qualifications & Skills

• Completion of a recognized Electrician Apprenticeship program with a valid Trade Certificate / Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) is required.
• A valid Red Seal Electrician (Industrial) trade certification is considered a plus.
• A Marine Endorsement is considered a plus,
• Experience in the marine industry as an electrician/technician is considered a plus but not required.
• Basic knowledge of electrical control systems is required
• Basic knowledge about converters, and PLC-based automation knowledge is a plus.
• Proven ability in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of (international) electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Safety-focused, with familiarity in applicable international classification rules for the marine industry and Canadian codes.
• Excellent communication skills with a customer-first approach.
• Willingness to travel across coastal BC and work independently on-site.
• Valid driver’s license and legal ability to work in Canada. What We Offer
