Experience Brings Certainty

It’s actually pretty funny how I ended up here. I started this job with no prior experience at all. Before this, I was studying Nursing because I wanted to help people.

Everything Can Be Learned

However, in practice, I realized I was spending more time following protocols and writing reports than actually caring for people. So, I decided to quit my studies. Since I’ve always had a technical side, I boldly asked Royal Van der Leun if I could shadow someone for a day. That turned out to be a great decision because it gave me the chance to see if this job was something I’d actually enjoy.

From that very first day, I was hooked. I was warmly welcomed, and there was immediate, genuine interest in me. That interest is still there today, and it creates a relaxed and open atmosphere, which I really appreciate. It leads to mutual trust and the feeling that everything can be discussed. We help each other grow and improve.

Royal Van der Leun never expected me to know everything right away, but they did expect me to be willing to learn. Because of that, I was able to develop incredibly fast. Within five months, I had earned my certification to work as a security systems technician. Now, I work independently on projects.

Challenges Make Me Proud

The projects I work on are fascinating because no two days are the same. I never know where I’ll end up or what I’ll find when I get there. I even get access to areas in businesses that are off-limits to most people—which is pretty exciting.

Sometimes the job is simple, but other times, I have to deal with complex malfunctions. Those are my favorite! They challenge me to really use my brain to find a solution, and I won’t leave until everything is up and running again. Even if that means working late, I don’t mind. If staying longer means a satisfied customer, then it’s worth it. And when I finally solve a tough issue, I feel extra proud.

A Dynamic Job Means Job Satisfaction

Looking ahead to the future is something I really value in my work—I don’t like standing still. That’s exactly why Royal Van der Leun is the perfect place for me. I always want to expand my knowledge and find new ways to contribute, and I get every opportunity to do so here.

I take on every assignment and training opportunity that comes my way, which allows me to continually grow in my role. That’s what keeps me excited about coming to work every day. Even after a long day, I still come home full of energy, thinking, That was a good day’s work.
