Account Manager
Every day a new challenge!
I came into contact with Royal Van der Leun through a recruitment agency. My first impression? Wow, it's so big here!

The two impressive buildings immediately made an impact, and my manager’s enthusiasm was contagious. I instantly felt that this was a place where I wanted to work. When I first started, I was part of the service department in the maritime division. It was interesting, but not exactly my thing. Fortunately, I got the opportunity to transfer to the Electrobouw division, where I could work as a work planner for camera security systems. Being back in my field felt like a perfect match. We don’t just deliver standard installations—we provide advanced systems. You really feel like you’re contributing to something significant.
From Work Planner to Account Manager
The funny thing is, my transition to account manager actually happened by chance. During a training session, my sales experience came up, which led to me being asked for this new role. And it turned out to be the perfect fit! I now get to work with both technology and people. I absolutely love the customer interaction—every client gives me a glimpse into their world, and the better I get to know them, the better we can help them with the perfect solution. The customer always comes first, and only then does the financial side follow. That makes my job incredibly rewarding because we’re truly providing solutions that make a difference.
Room for Growth and Development
One of the things I appreciate most here is the freedom you get. As long as you do your job, you have plenty of room to carve out your own path. Want to take a course? No problem. Looking to advance in your career? That can happen very quickly here. My own career switch—from the service department to work planner and now account manager—is a great example of that. What makes me most proud is that my colleagues describe me as a particularly positive person. It’s great to know that my energy and positive attitude stand out. I genuinely enjoy going to work. Recognition is also important to me, and luckily, I receive plenty of it here. My motto is: don’t work harder, work smarter.
Moving Forward Together
I also think celebrating success is very important. We often work on large projects, and when we win one, there’s definitely cake and champagne! Plus, our staff association organizes many fun activities. Whether it’s a beer tasting or a go-karting night, there’s always something happening that helps you connect with colleagues outside of work. It really feels like a close-knit group, which makes working here even more enjoyable.
